Joseph E. Grey

Joseph E. Grey is a painter from Ohio who primarily used watercolors and painted in a cubist style. One of his more popular pieces was featured in Cedric Dover’s American Negro Art published in the 1940s. It was entitled Bull and Fighter. An oil version of this piece is included in this exhibition. Grey’s later artistic endeavors centered on commercial art and advertising. This included a stint at the E. Miller Advertising Agency alongside Andy Warhol.
